How we work
Who writes the texts on this site, where the figures come from and how they are checked.
Who writes the texts
The texts on this site are prepared with AI — large language models — under a fixed editorial method. The authors named in the bylines are editorial personas: each has its own beat, voice, checking method and standards. They are not real people, and we do not tell personal stories in their name: a persona never says it used a product, served clients or worked somewhere — such claims cannot be checked.
Where the figures come from
- A price, plan, rate or limit is taken from the page of whoever sets it: the vendor, the regulator, the agency. The page is read in the language of the market the text is written for (in a browser if its figures are drawn by a script) and the date of the check is recorded; a price counts as confirmed by the vendor only if the page showed it for that market.
- The first mention of a load-bearing figure links to its source, and the article ends with a “Sources and check dates” block: what each source supports, when and how it was checked.
- If the owner did not confirm a figure (the page was unavailable, showed another currency or did not contain the figure), the figure may still stay in the text, but with a footnote: what is unconfirmed, where it was taken from and how.
- Figures from third-party reviews are labelled as third-party and never presented as the vendor’s.
- Calculations (totals, yearly cost, shares) are done with a calculator, and the assumptions are named in the text, so any reader can repeat them.
How a text is checked
An accepted text is checked separately by an independent review that does not see the author’s reasoning: it extracts the load-bearing claims from the text again, recalculates the arithmetic, reopens the sources of the key figures and checks that the method, the tables, the text and the conclusion agree with each other. A text in which the review found an error is not published until the error is fixed.
Articles written before this method was introduced are being moved to it gradually: as long as an article has no “Sources and check dates” block, it has not passed this check — it may contain unchecked figures and the author’s stories of personal experience.
Corrections
A confirmed error is corrected in the text and the article’s modified date is updated; the earlier version is kept in the editorial archive. The site owner’s contact details are in the privacy policy.
